hi chaps there,s bin alot chat about the dish size to get showtime which is the best for footy, rob the landlord at our local want,s to get showtime .He will buy an official card.He has also bin to acouple of sat shops they say it,s impossible to get this bird you need a 3mtr dish or bigger. He,s got the space on the flat roof at the back of the pub where it can,t be seen.the location is in stockport near manchester .He spent quiet a bit of money on digi albi and other cards etc, he,s got a 90 cmt motorized dish and technomate 500 .I,ve said to him you can get a diablo cam and get the footy on thor ,He said he want,s english com and was proved last week when no one could get man u last tues.It seems to me if you want to survive in the pub game you need the footy and food .He,s had prices for a channel mater dish 2.4 about 2k on the net, will this size dish guarantee him to showtime on nilsat, sorry about it being long winded thank,s for taking time to read this.

You would need 3 to 3.5m in Manchester for H channels

best bet is get a sky italy sub for about £800 with the reciever and get canal digital scandanavia sub for thor for approx £900 better to have legit subs as a diablo cam isnt a legal way of recieving 1 west, for the outlay of less than 2 grand he will be just about guaranteed english footy on saturday at 3pm with english comm,if its man utd games you looking for then your laughing as they always shown anyways.

showsports is the best but a 2mtr dish for the vertical channels and a 3mtr dish for the horizontal plus a subscription gonna cost a fortune and i doubt you will get planning permision to put one on a pub lol.

Also as he's showing footie intended for another country be carefull with the sly police popping in & checking

There have been court cases within last 12 months where landlords have been dragged into court over this -im not sure what the final outcome was-maybe some other members can update you

Could always have a lock in & shut the curtains!

i'm not positive but an andrews 2.4m with .1 c120 lnb with andrews feed would just about do for H transponders on 7w this should be aligned spot on with a professional meter ******** analyser

I'm 20 minutes up the M60 from Stockport and I get showsports on CM 240 with matched feedhorn.

Its very weak though.

You would be better with a 300cm dish but finding one will be hard.

Regarding cards etc, don't even think of using pirate cards or cams.
Its bad enough pubs showing footy using official cards but using emu,c/s,cams or pirate card then he will be in big big trouble if he gets caught and he will get caught.
FACT are really clamping down on this and have guys every week spot checking pubs right across the Country.

Do you understand how big a 3.5m dish is? A dish that size is going to attract people to the pub, nosey people. The landlord would have to be bang up to date with all types of dish and football laws. Plus as someone has said he would be better off with S Italia 13e or Canal+ on 1w. As for having to have English comm on the games I do think the landlord is pushing it a bit.

if the output of two 2m dishes could be somehow combined that would probably work but who has the know how to take the task on

As other members have said the further North you go the less signal you will get, I live in the Midlands and can get Showsports on a Channel Master 2.4m 24/7 however when we have heavy rain i then get picture break up, I think a Prodelin 3m should be okay in the Manchester area.

2.4m in London gives a stable signal for Showtime footy. I think in Manchester you're getting the correct estimate of minimum 3m for 24/7 pic, pref 3.5m.

6ft high walls (1.8m) will only cover about half of the 3.5m dish :) , I would seriously consider other options like Sly italy.

Having said that , if you want more details about Showsport let me know as I have it, for example , ShowSports 1,2,3,4 are in Widescreen , all other channels aren't, although may be the landlord not that picky with this.

Good luck
