hi all

mrs wants to buy me a nice xmas pressie.
i have currently the dreambox 7000 working great ;)
im using a vbox2 to drive my Actuator, this works well. my questions are
can i do the same with the 800hd, as easy?
do you keep the basic dream software on and add a usb img or do you instal new software over the dream media jobby?
just some very basic info would be great im sure i can browse the board for actual instructions for doing things.
and 1 last thing is the 800hd a vast improvement over the 7000, for example better tuner? faster zapping? divx support?

many thx for any help

Updates are done over the network by putting the box into an update mode and browsing to the ip of the box in this mode via http. Then install updates.

I should imagine that if your current method works on the 7000, it should work on the 800, but wouldn't like to say for definate.

I don't know how well it compares to the 7000, but it works well for me, the tuner can pick up focussat signals with a good enough signal to watch them, whereas I sometimes had problems with the 500 (but that could be weather dependant).

I would say to borrow one from someone if you can, and wasn't sure. Other option is to wait for abit if you're not too bother about getting a hd box, and see what comes to the market. Have heard of a few good boxes coming out soon which have similar workings to the 800 and are a bit cheaper. So maybe worth waiting a wee while?

If it has to be with CCcam the it will always work with a dreambox, there are others but Dreambox will always have CCcam support.:respect-051:

@ simon 2003

im told that the menu structure is slightly different as it's Enigma2, but
the method is the same.
a look at a menu would soon tell you,but it must be ok.
