what pole to get

Hi guys after xmas am going to get up my ladder and move my dish up and above the roof. Pesky neighbour has a bloody extension and its blocking anything from 30 degrees west onwards can get 42e-30w want to go up above the roof to get maximun sats.... also i have a budget mount which is a bit crap :( windy puts it out of aligment alot... going to go with 24 inch t and k's and also go with a pole but what size pole do i need any suggestions .. have a 1 m steel dish on motor..

depends how much will be flapping but go for 16 gauge 1 1/2" or 2" ,google and have a look at comparisons/charts ect

where can i get hold of a scaffold pole ? i cant be seen at builders sites with my ajustable spanner taken bits of their scaffolding any ideas where can get some from?:respect-059:

(I used to use the scaffolding tubes but found them lacking if used overlooking roofs etc I now use 3inch alloy tubes now solid even in the strongest winds you could buy new from sign makers for road signs make sure your mount will take 3inch pole first but if you live in sheltered area or the motor goes between the TK brackets scaffolding tubes will be ok

but as the guys said a scaffolding pole is great. just ask if they will sell you one, having been in the building trade im sure it won't be a problem. they will convert the money into beer.

nope cant ground mount don't want me garden looking like ground control lol. plus the little one will end swinging round it :(... want it way out the way of him. going to try get a scaffold poll from somewhere even if it means one coming loose :P:respect-057: or i will try and find some one to flog is one

2inch scaffold pole will work but depends on what dish it is as some motors will take up to 3inch pole which is better

you can buy a alloy tube or steel, the steel cost £1 per foot +vat..
alloy tubes cost about 3x the price of steel tubes..

You could also try a tubing/conduit supplier/manufacturer. 2" - 2½" stainless would be good.

hi guys. managed to get my bracket and pole early can now get 55e - 58w wooohoo. got a 2 inch diameter pole from a local electrical company for £7.50 and t&k brackets (24inch) cost me £11.50 Bargain....
