Just hoping for a bit of advice if possible.
Work have just given me an old (was someone elses!) tomtom 520 to stop me from getting lost!
I have downloaded tomtom home 2.5 and updated all that tomtom will give me i.e. mapshare. I wanted to update the maps as mine seem out of date. I have the 705.1480 maps installed. (UK and ireland)
I have read the instructions on here but I am still a little confused about what I need.
I have done a back up of my tomtom and I have a 4gb sd card.
Which maps do IO need what do I need to download and do I need any other software?
Sorry for beeing such a noob but I want to learn for the future.
Thanks again:biggrinjester:

I am no expert but it should all be here:-

You need the easyusetools for patching the maps.
I think it also patches the ttsystem file on your 520

OK this is where it gets difficult for me.
My tomtom has 8.300 (9732) navcore official on it. I have read that I will need to pach this and tomtom home to get the new maps to work.
From then on I am stuck.
Do I need to patch navcore and if so what do I do. Also howdo I patch tom tom home?
Thanks for any help

You just need to replace the existing navcore ttsystem file with the patched version.
You don't need to patch TT Home.

Sorry for being stupid m8 but how do I do that?
Where can I get the patched ttsystem file?
Thanks again

You can just use the ttsystem_patcher in the easytools package to patch the ttsystem file as it does same thing.

Don't think the patcher will patch newer versions of Tomtom. Here's a copy of a patched v8.300.9732 (not tried it myself though) -

Use either a card reader or connect tomtom to your PC - let it overwrire any existing files. If adding a new map folder delete the old map folder first. Then activate the map using the easyusetool.

So do I just copy and paste the navcore files or do I use a different program?
Thanks again

Just a copy & paste - let it overwrite any existing files.

Thanks m8.
Thats the one I have. I thought I saw 815.2024 as I have been searching through all instructions on how to do this but I might be mistaken.
Will give it a go this morning and let you know how I get on!

OK i must be thick or something but i cannot get the auto patch to run.
Does it have to be in a specific place on drive or does tomtom need to be a set drive. I have followed instructions but all it does is flash up a dos box and close.

Have you put the maps m-e-t-a file in the m-e-t-a folder?
I made that mistake!

yes i have but all i get is mount vol not reconised.
Thats why wanted to know if it had to be run from someware like the root directory.
There must be something that i am not doing but i cannot see what, its driving me nuts.

I ran the file from my desktop and put the map directly onto my tomtom. The RunMeforAllAutomatic asked me to identify which drive my tomtom was on as did the RunMeforDCT. I didnt use anything else apart from the cracked navcore which I copied and pasted into the root folder of the tomtom.
Is yours a 520 like mine?

OK sorted it.
For some reason it just wont run from my main pc, i think it is because i have a lot of mapped network drives so i ran it from my laptop with no problems.
Thanks for youre help.
