Thats interesting news.
Can you give more information please?

Will this mean we can use just cccam (without newcs)?

sonic1
12-12-2008, 04:13 PM
The NDS problem is that since bootloader 69 newcs has not read NDS cards at all.
Hopefully this is the fix but we shall see when I get home :respect-061:

69 has been a lot more stable for me, no freezing or crashes.

Is it just me being cynical, or is cccam intentionally crippled on the 800 to not read NDS cards? If this is not the case then I would have expected the issue to have been fixed by now.

Perhaps Mr Murdoch has paid Dream Multimedia to disable it?

Or am I just leaping to conclusions?

Merry christmas to everyone at Satpimps,:respect-064:

I had a chance to reset my box today, it says bootloader 61 which means I am way out of date, I am running Gemini 3.70 with the Dreambox on top of a laptop fan so its constantly cool, I run CCam 2.010 with NewCS 1.62, which seems to be ok, it does crash but not too often, if I put bootloader 70 on will everything still work particular s** at 28.2e with the s** viewing card?

What would the advantages be?

OK, thanks again,

harshy

A
25-12-2008, 09:10 PM
no they wont, no advantage the latest is not always the best.
I am using 2.11.2008 ozoon in flash and gemini 3.80 on USB works just fine no need for a new update FOR ME. i DID INSTALL NABILO 0.5 ON MY FRIENDS BOX AND HES HAPPY but your situation with sky card wont be helped with updating.
If you dont have lock ups or freezes stay where you are.
only nabilo supports latest bootloader I think

@Harshy

bootloader 61 is very old and I would advise at least being upto bootloader 67.
As you say you do have a laptop cooling station but its better to not even generate the heat in the first place of possible and it is from 67 onwards and its no great hardship to update.

A
26-12-2008, 01:33 PM
true but he would need a newer image too to support that bootloader

harshy
26-12-2008, 05:39 PM
oh dear so does this mean I have to get rid of Gemini 3.70 if I use another bootloader? what gemini image could I go for and do I use Dreambox Edit to restore my channel list and stored sat positions?

OK, thanks again,

wont work well I tried all the possible images except LT AND I am back to using oozoon 2.11.2009 on flash and gemini 3.8 on usb

Power on the 800 holding the front power button in.

It will display "STOP" and then, (as long as DHCP is enabled in your router) an IP address.

Make note of this address and enter it in your browser e.g http://192.168.x.y (Firefox is the recommended browser).

A web interface should open up, so follow the flash instructions, select the bootloader file and it should program in less than a second. Power off and reboot your unit. It will now have the new bootloader. You can check this from the web interface screen using the same procedure as above to access it.

Please report back if you have any problems.

Hi guys

I've not had to do anything on my DM800 since I first got it and to be honest seem to have forgot everything I did to get it working!!

I've done the above method to get bootloader 70 down and working, but have absolutely no idea the method of getting a *.ipk file onto the Dreambox.

Can someone please explain in as newbie language as possible what I need to do to get 72 & 73 onto my machine.

Thanks in advance.

Don't worry about putting 72 on, you just need to put in the latest...

To install it, first ftp the update to /tmp. Then, use a telnet client (install telnet client to your windows installation through windows add/remove components if not installed or use another telnet client), then login to your box.

Now, after you're logged in, type the following command:

ipkg install dreambox-secondstage_73-r0_dm800.ipk

This will then install latest 2nd stage for you. Do the same for the drivers.

If you're using barry allen with images in usb, then you need to update the flash image (reboot the box, load the flash, then update) as well as the image you want to use...

loveman thanks for your reply, but from the sounds of what you're saying this has suddenly gone from enjoyment to brain surgery! Can you recommend a telnet client (what ever that is) that I can download? How does the telnet client talk to the file on the box?

Can I use the telnet box within DCC? I've got v2.95 of DCC. Below is the screen I've found and if it can be used, do I just put the line you've mentioned?

http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr10/StockportSteve/Telnet1.jpg

I wouldn't mind but I installed the bootloader 70 this afternoon and have now lost half my channels!!

I'm starting to lose confidence in my ability with the box now everything seems to be going wrong.

loveman
09-07-2009, 05:54 AM
yes, you can use the telnet client in dcc. Other option (dependant on image), is that some images give you the option to do a manual install of ipkg files. In nabilo, I think it's under the green panel then yellow. With gemini, press blue then red (to go to the file manager).

Don't worry, it's all easy to do when you realise how. Once you've done it once, you'll be fine :)

sonic1
09-07-2009, 08:00 AM
@stefor On the left hand side of the options within DCC you can see tools, go into this option and use the function to install ipk packages and all the hard work is done for you.

Oh Poo, I've now got a small black brick!!

Put in the latest (73) bootloader using the above method through DCC, everything seemed to go smooth and finally said "done", hard reset the box, said 73 in the LCD and then Gemini starts booting gets half way across then hangs!!:o10:

Contacted my supplier who told me about using dreamup and the original Dream firmware. Tried it and the serial port won't see the dreambox!! It just tries to boot as normal but freezes.

Tries 2 different serial cables (used on Technomates and Eurovox box) and 2 different PCs, but still nothing.

It's bad when you screw up big time isn't it!!

Yes that's what I did, but unfortunately the dreambox serial lead and software don't seem to be talking. The serial lead I've been told by the suppliers to be ok as I've used it in the past for updating Technomate and Eurovox receivers in the past. Thank machines have only got one com port and software is pointing to that port. The software simply sits there saying, now connect your dreambox.

Didn't fancy sending it back, just in case it's something simple and don't want to waste the suppliers time, because he's been more than helpful. I've had numerous problems including 2 power supplies and 2 tuners and he's never as much as tutted on the phone!!

Can you access the box via your web browser to flash ?

Yes, just flashed it with the firmware off the Dreambox site using the web browser ip to the dreambox and it went down ok.

Just done a quick rescan of hotbird, as that was the last satellite I was pointing at and still seem to be receiving half the channels!! Seems like I can't receive horizontal channels for some reason. Just got the ladder up and put my spare LNB on, just in case it was that and rescanned and still looking at the channels received, still no Horizontal.

My tuner was replaced recently because certain channels were flicking one and off like someone was putting their hand in front of my LNB and quickly taking it off. Had tuner replaced and it just started again. Friend said it might be because I was on firmware that came with the box, that's why I updated the other day.

I honestly think the box has got a problem with the horizontal feeds. Another problem it seems to have is keeping itself on satellite. If I change to another satellite I have to fine tune all the time, then save, but if you go back too that position later you have to do it all again even though you saved.

Sorry about this guys, I sound like a hopeless case.

Just wondering, is this box an original box, or a clone?! Since the fact that it died after updating the secondstage sounds a bit dodgy...

on my 500 clone, I've had to try quite a few times before it registers the box is actually connected. so keep trying. if it doesn't acknowledge it, turn it off, start again...

It's definately an original. It came from a "proper" Dreambox dealership everyone will know, owned my Mark.

Can't fault the guy though. As soon as you phone him he tries to talk you through things and if that's no good, there's no hesitation from him about sending it back for him to look at.

Well, I updated my dm800 root image with the 75 ss loader, and it caused the box to crash. Updated the image to the latest oozoon (again), and went to install ba after installing updates, and it moans about the ss loader being wrong. This was both with ba 5.0.7.

Just run the 5.0.8 barry allen, and it seems to be installing fine now. So, beware, maybe you need to update barry allen to 5.0.8 before installing the ss 75!

It's supposed to only need to be applied to the flash image, but I've had to apply the update to the flash image and usb image to get it to work properly when I've tried it (most notably the sly uk card update that was released for the older cards a while back)...
