My current dish is slightly oval shaped of about 70cm by 80cm
The current lnb is 0.6
If I swap it for a darkgold 0.1 will it work straight away or would it currently have a 'special' lnb for oval dishes?
Also, looking to upgrade my dish soon to approximately 90-100cm (maybe triax) will this also be immediately compatible with this new darkgold lnb?

Hi veron57, no need to worry, as long as your dish is an offset (feed arm at the bottom) you can fit any universal LNB, no difference oval or round.
You should see an improvement with the darkgold (Best) LNB as long as you focus it correctly as some LNBs will focus at a different distance to the surface of the dish.

Thanks for your reply, I guess it makes sense to use the satfinder to make sure it is focussed to an optimal position.
you will see an improvement but dont expact it to be drastic.
as a rule of thumb each 0.1db reduction in lnb noise level equates to 1cm of dish size.
so in your case you are reducing by 0.5db so your dish will now act like an 85cm dish.
this is a rule of thumb and you may find thats its nearer 90cm,but with a dish this small i would be considering replacing the dish to a larger one rather than the lnb.
improvement comes in this order.
1.dish size.
2.tuner noise reduction.
3.cable insertion noise reduction(shorter cable lengths and cable quality)
4.lnb noise figure.

@veron57 I use a cheap needle type satfinder, I have used the cheap LED type and don't rate them.
