I am having problems scanning satellites, after the scan is finished there are far fewer channel than I would expect and a lot of them have no pids in them, it scanned both horizontal and vertical OK.
could this be the satellite xml file that came with the Pli image and can I put a new one in?
load channel setting in using openDBedit if your dm8000 is connected to a motor use the likra setting

Hi Jono
Unfortunately openDBedit, Dreambox Edit and Dreamset will not work with my 8000, if you know a channel editor that will please tell me.
why wont it try clicking in options tab at bottom right of that screen says version 3 settings (7025) that is for enigma2 recievers like 7025,800,8000.

Hi again Jono
finally after spending hours I suss it out, for DreamBoxEdit to work you have to manually put favourite Bouquets into the 8000 using the remote control.
if you don't DreamBoxEdit says it is unable to find things and fails to work!
have you choosen version 3 settings in dreambox edit 3.0 and tried ?

I used the New Enigma2 settings and all is working with DreamBoxEdit now.
The only problem is the lack of channels found when scanning i.e only 660 found on Astra 28d

sorry m8 but i'm totally lost if you use the software to load settings ( channels) there is no need to do a scan.
download the channel list from the link i posted in post 6 and load them using openDBedit make sure you click version 3 (7025) in the options or else it will not load the channels.
forget about the old way of scanning in channels like you would wioth a humax or technomate 1500 this is done via PC well it is for best results.
