Hi, I stumbled on this site h__p://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ not sure if it has been mentioned before or not. It is a free totally legal site that allows you to download basic map updates for your Garmin. Once unzipped put the file into a folder called Garmin then stick it on a micro SD card formatted FAT32 then into your Garmin device. You will need to go into the settings and map info on your device to direct the new map. Plenty of reading and links on the site. I tried it on my Seat car and it works fine, my only complaint is it takes a few minutes for the Garmin to read the SD card before maps appear. It seems to be a very cheap work around but try it at your own risk.
