If you want to learn, and use a receiver with open source support, I advise you to get an Enigma 2 receiver.
Cost depends on technical requirements:
Multiple tuners?
Detachable hard drive, most have a caddy option now, that you can just slide in, my old VU+ duo 2 has an interna, fixed,l hard drive?
4K?
